Definition:

Places (incorporated or unincorporated) with fewer than 2,500 residents and open territory.

Example of Rural Communities:

Rural communities in the suburbs are the people who get affected most by food deserts. The lack of healthy foods available in rural areas makes fast foods becoming the only choice for day to day meal, resulting in higher obesity rate.
