About Us / Two Rock Ranch History: Started in 2010 by Nia Hansen and Emily Vincent, Sonoma County Sheep Company (SCSC) was located on a small acreage in the rolling hills of West Petaluma, California near Two Rock. Just minutes away from the coast, the farm was covered in winter fog from the ocean and enjoyed a cool summer breeze—the perfect setting for raising baby lambs!
We made the tough decision to move to the East Coast because of the continued drought. Feed costs we're simply too high and Bay Area land prices insane! We settled our ranch in the foothills of the Helderberg Mountains! We then changed our farm name to "Two Rock Ranch" to celebrate where our humble beginnings originated.
We have had highs and lows on a daily basis like any farm and any farmer. The tears shed in sorrow soon turn into joy and back into sorrow. A farmer's life is not easy when they place their animals' well being in such high regard. Vet bills and feed costs soar, but with continued efforts, we hope to make ends "meat"! We pride ourselves on producing organically raised lambs and ha your own fields in the summer and supplement with organic hay from certified fields on top of our own hay. We practice field rotation and we do not need to deworming our lambs before harvest. They are antibiotic free as well. We are a Pride of New York farm and are also on the Minority Farmer USDA list. We are partners with Albany County Soil and Water Conservation and plan to host grazing seminars on the farm in 2016. We are a WWoof Host Farm and last year hosted visitors from Germany, Norway, Denmark, and Boston! :)
We sell our meat at Honest Weight Food Coop in Albany, NY and sell our shanks and shouldures exclusively to The Marshal in Hells Kitchen in New York City. Please consider letting our lamb grace your next meal and support your local farmer. Thank you!
